One-week observance for late Asantehemaa set for August 21

The one-week observance for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, has been scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The Queen Mother, who passed away at the age of 98, was celebrated for her decades of dedicated service to the Ashanti Kingdom and her deep commitment to preserving Asante traditions and culture.

The announcement was formally made on Monday, August 11, 2025, by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during a solemn session at the Manhyia Palace.

The ceremony is expected to draw royals, chiefs, government officials, dignitaries, and well-wishers from across the country and beyond, as the Asante Kingdom begins the traditional rites to honour the memory of its revered Queen Mother.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who ascended to the stool in 2016, played a pivotal role in the chieftaincy institution, promoting unity among the Asante people and serving as a custodian of the kingdom’s heritage.

Preparations are underway to ensure a fitting tribute to her life and legacy during the observance.
