Police Recover AK-47, Ammunition in Abandoned Vehicle at Asante-Bekwai
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has recovered an AK-47 assault rifle, ammunition, and other suspicious items from an abandoned vehicle near Asante-Bekwai.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 17, 2025, when officers from the Kuntanase District Patrol Team spotted a white Toyota Sienta parked suspiciously along the Aputuoagya-Bekwai road.

Two individuals fled the scene upon noticing the police, leaving behind the vehicle and its contents.

The recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, a locally manufactured firearm, loaded magazines, and ammunition.

The vehicle has been impounded at the Kuntanase Police Station, and all recovered items have been retained as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command in a press release on Monday August 18, 2025 said it remains resolute in its commitment to preventing violent crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
