Mr Issah Ibrahim, President of PUSAG

The President of the Private Universities Students Association (PUSAG), Mr Issah ibrahim has celebrated all youth in the world but particularly extolling the Ghanaian youth for displaying exemplary qualities and intellectual capacities.

In statement marking the International Youth Day, the President commended the youth for their creative skills, intelligence and energy in causing development across the world.

We publish the statement from the President in full.

International Youth Day In Ghana; When Dreams Are Silenced, the Nation Must Answer the Cry of Its Future:

Fellow Ghanaians, today the world marks International Youth Day, a day to celebrate the energy, creativity, and potential of young people. Yet here in Ghana, this day comes wrapped around in grief.

In the past few weeks alone, 24 young lives have been lost; eight gallant servicemen including distinguished Ministers of state in the tragic military helicopter crash, and sixteen vibrant young people in a heartbreaking accident while returning from a church program and others reported by the media .

These were not just statistics; they were dreams in motion, futures full of promise, and the beating heart of families, communities, and our nation.

How many more young voices must be silenced before we act with urgency? Ghana’s youth make up over 57% of our population, yet our safety, welfare, and empowerment too often remain afterthoughts.

We are not asking for favors, we are demanding the fulfillment of our rightful place as partners in building the nation.

As the President of PUSAG, I speak not just for private university students, but for every young Ghanaian who believes in a future worth fighting for.

We call on the state to:

I. Prioritize youth safety on our roads, in our communities, and in our workplaces.

II. Invest in sustainable youth opportunities that turn our energy into economic growth.

III. Engage young voices in national decision-making, not as tokens, but as true stakeholders.

Today, our grief must become our resolve. Let this International Youth Day be remembered not for speeches, but for the turning point when Ghana decided to truly protect, empower, and invest in its greatest asset, its youth.

We, the young people of Ghana, are ready to lead, ready to serve, and ready to build a future that honors those we have lost. And we will not stop until every young life in Ghana is given the chance to shine.

Because when the youth rise, the nation rises.

H.E Issah Ibrahim,

National President.
