Seven-bedroom house razed by fire at Nyinahin Zongo

A devastating fire has destroyed a seven-bedroom house at Nyinahin Zongo, in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, leaving several families homeless and the community in shock.

According to eyewitnesses and tenants, the fire broke out around 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, reportedly starting from the ceiling of the house.
Efforts by the tenants and the residents to extinguish the flames were unsuccessful.
When they contacted the Nyinahin Fire Station, they were informed that the station’s fire tender was not functional.
A distress call to the Bibiani Fire Station eventually brought help, but by the time personnel arrived, the entire building had already been consumed by the fire.
Otec News reporter Ben Benjamin Kwarteng, who visited the scene, reported that affected residents were counting their losses, with personal belongings, household items, and cash burnt beyond recovery.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ishack Ibrahim, visited the scene to console the victims and assess the damage.
He expressed deep sympathy and urged the public to take fire safety seriously.
He also emphasized the urgent need to resource local fire stations to enhance emergency response capabilities.
