Asantehemaa Doti Yie: Sumankwahene’s representatives follow customs to stop rain from falling

Delegates from the palace of the Sumankwahene have been performing traditional rituals to prevent rainfall as the four-day funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa commence in Kumasi


At the funeral grounds, the representatives were spotted using supernatural abilities to fight off rain clouds that may have interrupted the ceremony.

OTEC News Bismark Appiah Kubi Papilo, witnessed as the palace envoy positioned themselves at various cloudy spots within the area for the occasion, chanting incantations and using ritual objects in what appeared to be appeals to the gods for no-rain skies.

OTEC NEWS observed as they were seen moving from place to the other, carrying out the rituals and making statements meant to guarantee the queen mother’s festivities continued without interruption.
The skies at the Manhyia Palace as it was darkening from the beginning of the funeral have totally turned into hot sun as we speak.
Such interventions accroding to traditions are customarily deemed necessary for significant state funerals and major occasions, where unexpected rain could disrupt the orderly conduct of events.
