Esumenyamanhene Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama II Steals the Show at Ejura Sekyerene Festival
The Paramount Chief of Esumenya in the Asante Kingdom, Odeneho Okyere Kusie Ntrama II has stormed the Ejura Sekyerene Festival with hundreds of entourage.
The renowned chief, who’s also the Asantehene Benkumhene, was the special guest of honor at the festival.
The chief’s arrival at the festival drew the attention of hundreds who ran to catch a glimpse of his arrival in a traditional palanquin.
Upon his historic arrival, the chief of Ejura Divisional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, stood up from his chair to welcome his special guest.
The festival, which is celebrated annually to open the new Yam season, was climaxed on Saturday, October 11, 2025
The festival brought together thousands of people who witnessed pure Asante traditions and culture.
The festival celebrates the harvest of fresh yams and marks the official start of its consumption.
The event showcased pure Asante traditions and culture, featuring traditional drumming, dancing, and other cultural displays.
This year’s festival focused on youth development, with the theme “Disciplined Youth: Our Hope for Building a Prosperous Future”
As the festival concluded, attendees celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Asante Kingdom, and the Ejurahene expressed gratitude to the people of Ejura for their participation and support.
