Ejurahene praises Asantehene’s wisdom in Mamponghene selection

The Divisional Chief for Ejura, who’s also the Adontehene and a Kingmaker of the Asante Mampong Silver Stool, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has praised the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei II for his wisdom and guidance in the selection of a new chief for the Asante Mampong Traditional Area.
This comes after the Asantehene affirmed the nomination of Leslie Osei Nkansah Bonsu by the queen Nana Agyakomaa Diffie as the next occupant of the Silver Stool.
The Asantehene on Monday, December 15, 2025, paved the way for the enstoolment of the new Asante Mamponghene. Otumfuo affirmed that once Mamponghemaa had used Asante cultural processes to nominate Mr. Nkansah Bonsu, all should support him.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II, in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng after the confirmation by the Asantehene, observed that the Asantehene has since the passing of the late chief of Asante MaDaasebre Osei Bonsu II been with the royal family and the entire Mampong community, ensuring every step of the culture is strictly adhered to.
“Asantehene has been a father for all, always uniting and encouraging his subjects to use the right cultural process for peace to prevail. I always pray for strength and long life for the King,” he said.
He urged the royals of Asante Mampong to unite, forge forward, and ensure development for the area.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II emphasized that Nana Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu will be formally introduced to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, in the Manhyia Palace in accordance with the Asante Kingdom’s established protocols.
“Before taking on all of his duties as the Mampong people’s traditional ruler, he will take the Great Oath of Allegiance to the King there,” he added.
In the Asante Kingdom, the Mampong Stool is a highly regarded emblem of service, leadership, and wisdom.
This momentous occasion adds another chapter to its long history.
