First Chancellor Most Rev Prof Asante salutes leadership, calls for unity at Christian Service University Investiture

Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Kwaku Asante has called for unity, renewed hard work, and collective responsibility as Christian Service University charts a new path as a chartered institution.
Speaking during his investiture as the first Chancellor of the University at its campus in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, he described the occasion as both a moment of gratitude and a call to deeper commitment.
Addressing the University community, Most Rev Prof Asante paid tribute to faculty, staff, and students, describing them as the lifeblood of the institution.
“To our faculty, whose pursuit of academic distinction inspires our students, to our administrative and support staff, and to our vibrant student body, I salute each of you,” he said.
According to him, the combined efforts of all stakeholders form “the heartbeat of Christian Service University”.
Call for shared responsibility
The Chancellor urged the University community to see progress as a shared responsibility rather than an individual pursuit.
He called for sober reflection, unity, and partnership, stressing that sustainable growth depends on inclusion and mutual support.
“Our progress depends not only on individual effort but on our collective resolve to uphold the highest moral and academic standards,” he noted.
He further encouraged the promotion of critical thinking, respect for diversity and a culture of collaboration, saying these values were essential for building on the University’s rich heritage and preparing students for leadership in a complex world.
Faith and service at the centre
Reaffirming the Christian identity of the institution, Most Rev Prof Asante said Christian Service University remains committed to training professionals who serve both God and society with excellence.
He explained that the University’s mission is to nurture men and women of integrity who lead with compassion, ethical conviction, and a clear sense of purpose.
“Through rigorous academic pursuit, spiritual formation, and service, we empower our graduates to make meaningful contributions,” he said, adding that the institution seeks to shape leaders who will positively impact Ghana and the global community.
Honouring past leadership
The Chancellor also used the occasion to honour the legacy of past Council Chairmen and Presidents whose leadership guided the institution through growth and challenges.
He described their stewardship as visionary and transformative, noting that their contributions have left a lasting mark on the University.
He expressed special appreciation to the immediate past President and first Vice Chancellor, Professor Kofi Affranie; the immediate past Council Chairman, Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso, and a past Chairman, Mr Sarfo.
According to him, their leadership and foresight were instrumental in steering Christian Service University College into its new chapter as a chartered university.
Acknowledging institutional support
Most Rev Prof Asante further acknowledged the mentorship and support received from the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and the University of Cape Coast.
He said the roles played by these institutions were critical to the academic development and credibility of Christian Service University.
“These renowned institutions have played pivotal roles in our growth,” he said, adding that the University stands on a firm foundation built by many who believed in its vision and worked tirelessly to realise it.
Looking ahead with faith
Concluding his address, the Chancellor urged the University community to strive for excellence, unity and the pursuit of knowledge while cherishing the legacy of its pioneers.
Quoting a familiar Christian hymn, he reminded the gathering that the institution’s journey has been rooted in faith.
“We have come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord and trusting in His holy word,” he said, expressing confidence in the road ahead.
