President Mahama seeks Asantehene’s blessings for good governance at last Akwasidae

The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has joined the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to mark the last Akwasidae of the year.

The President, together with the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and several other ministers and government appointees, joined the last Akwasidae to seek blessings from the renowned monarch ahead of the 2026 governance year.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amaakohene, who led the delegation, praised the Asantehene for his wisdom, support, and guidance to the president.

“President Mahama is here not only to seek blessings but to thank the Asantehene for his continued support for this government,” he said.

“The president joined His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asanteman to observe the last Akwasidae of the year, a sacred and significant traditional occasion that reflects the rich cultural heritage of our people,” Dr. Amaakohene added.

“His visit underscores the deep respect and strong partnership between the state and traditional authorities, and reaffirms our collective commitment to unity, cultural preservation, and national cohesion as we conclude the year and prepare for the journey ahead,” he noted.

Dr. Amaakohene appealed to the Asantehene to offer prayers for the President, his appointees, and Ghana as a whole as they work to reset the country’s economy.
