Tell Ghanaians your blueprint for Sim Card re-registration – Franklyn Cudjoe to Sam George

Franklyn Cudjoe, CEO of IMANI Africa, is calling on the government to release a policy document outlining its plans for the upcoming SIM card registration exercise.

“Ghanaians must know the blueprint of this particular exercise, the cost, duration and mode the government intends to use for this exercise,” Cudjoe said.

Speaking on OTEC FM’s Nyansapo show on Tuesday December 9, 2025, Cudjoe emphasized that Ghanaians need to understand the exercise’s blueprint, costs, duration, and implementation mode.

“Because Ghanaians normally fail to ask probing questions on such moves, the policy makers do everything they want and end up messing things around”, he told the programme host  Kwaku Owusu Boateng (KOB)

Cudjoe questioned the need for repeated SIM registration exercises, saying, “This is about the third time the country is doing this exercise, are we not sensible human beings to learn from our mistakes?”

He stressed that the government must explain the systems and architecture in simple terms to ordinary Ghanaians.

Meanwhile IMANI Africa has submitted a Right to Information (RTI) request to the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology & Innovations seeking details of the planned exercise set for early 2026.

The Minister for Communications, Samuel Nartey George, announced the exercise will begin by Q1 2026, deeming the previous exercise under former Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful invalid.
