A/R: Ahafo Ano South West DCE launches GHC 933,000 school sanitation projects

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly in the Ashanti region, Hon Abubakari Sadiq, has cut the sod for the construction of five new projects in the area.

The projects, estimated at GHC 933,000 and funded from the District Assembly Common Fund, include WC Toilet facilities in 5 different communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District.

The beneficiary schools are Wioso D/A Primary and JHS, Baniekrom D/A Primary and JHS, Kunsu “B” Primary and JHS, and Afreseni D/A Primary and JHS.

The project, which was launched on Monday, January 19, 2026, is expected to address long-standing sanitation challenges affecting teaching and learning in these schools.

Mr. Abubakari Sadiq said the educational infrastructures were to ensure early access to education by the kindergarten pupils to enable them to benefit from the government agenda to improve sanitation in all Basic schools in the country as well as the district.

“The foundation of education is key to educational success, and failure to get the basis of education right will impede the attainment of Education for all,” he noted.

Mr. Abubakari Sadiq encouraged the communities and assured the community members that the facilities would be finished on time so that they would use them.

He urged them to prompt the assembly on time whenever they detected any problem with building the projects for immediate attention.

Hon Abubakari Sadiq also used the occasion to outline additional development projects expected to commence in the district in the coming days, calling on communities to continue supporting government initiatives.

Presiding Member of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Hon Prince Oppong, expressed appreciation to the DCE for prioritising the welfare of school children.

He recounted the difficulties pupils in the Wioso community had endured due to the lack of proper sanitation facilities and said the intervention was a timely response to appeals made to the assembly.
