Ejurahene reiterates commitment to fighting destructive activities of Nomadic Herdsmen

The Chief of Ejura Divisional Council, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has reaffirmed his commitment to stopping the destructive activities of nomadic herdsmen in the area.

Speaking at a ceremony where the Ejura Divisional Council handed over 450 acres of land to the Ghana Prisons Service, the chief noted that some herdsmen destroy farm crops and engage in criminal activities like armed robbery, rape, and murder.

According to him, although efforts have reduced the impact of these herdsmen, the council will continue to work with security agencies to protect farmers’ investments.

The chief assured the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and other stakeholders of the council’s support in combating the menace.

The land handover was part of a sod-cutting ceremony for an ultra-modern housing project for prison officers.

The project will feature 255 housing units, aiming to improve living conditions and enhance service delivery.

Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, expressed gratitude to the Ejurahene for the land donation and urged stakeholders to support the project.
