Nana Leslie Osei Bonsu III sworn in as new Mamponghene

A new chapter has begun in Asante Mampong as Nana Leslie Osei Bonsu III was officially sworn in as the new Mamponghene in a traditional ceremony held at the Mampong Palace,.

As part of the historic rites, he was ceremonially seated on the Amaniampong silver stool after swearing oath to serve the traditional area .

The solemn event which took place on Monday December 5, 2026,witnessed the new chief taking an oath to faithfully serve and protect the interests of the Mampong Traditional Area.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who was present to pay homage and congratulate the new chief.

The ceremony was graced by numerous sub-chiefs who also pledged their allegiance, vowing to support Nana Osei Bonsu III through rain or shine in executing his duties for the development of the land.

In an interview with Ejura Kontehene, Nana Diasempa Antwi , son of the late Mamponghene, he expressed strong confidence in the new chief’s vision and leadership.

He stated that Nana Osei Bonsu III is deeply committed to youth employment and infrastructural development, promising he will not rest until these two goals are achieved.

He added that he looks just like his late uncle and has truly learned from him.

He also revealed that the new Mamponghene has introduced an educational fund aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students, with scholarship opportunities set to roll out soon.

Moreover, Nana Osei Bonsu III has opened the door for citizens to bring forth ideas that can aid in the progress of the Mampong community.

All sub-chiefs and okyeames have publicly pledged to obey and respect his authority.

Nana Diasempa concluded by thanking the youth of Mampong for their unwavering support, emphasizing their key role in upholding and advancing the chieftaincy institution.
