Thick darkness & poor road markings fuelling accidents – Offinso residents cry out

Residents of Offinso Old Town in the Ashanti Region are calling for urgent installation of street lights, road signs, and markings on the Offinso-Aboffuo highway.

The appeal follows a recent fatal accident that claimed three lives when a trailer rammed into a mini truck on the main bridge connecting Ahenkro and Offinso .

The residents in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim on Wednesday January 14,206, the residents blamed the lack of lighting, road signs, and markings, particularly from Ahenkro to Offinso Old Town, for the frequent accidents on the road.

“That particular area, where the Offin River is located, always records dangerous accidents, mainly because the area is too dark,” said Mr. Oteng, a commercial driver.

“We believe installing lights will aid visibility and reduce motor accidents,” Oteng added.

Residents are appealing to authorities and the Ghana Highway Authority to urgently address the issue.
