Asantehene’s timely financial support keeps govt road project on track – Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has revealed that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has provided financial support to the government for a road construction project in the region.

According to him, the monarch intervened to relocate traders affected by the dualization of the Santasi Roundabout to Ahodwo Roundabout.

Dr. Amoakohene made this known when members of the Council of State, government appointees from the Ashanti Region, and the Ashanti Regional Security Council joined the Asantehene to mark the first Akwasidae festival on February 1, 2026.

He expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for his support, stating that the monarch had done more than enough to aid the government in executing major projects in the region.

“In 2025, we called on the Asantehene, pleading with him to support government in executing major projects for the region, and the renowned monarch has done more than enough to support government,” Dr. Amoakohene said.

He added that the Asantehene had personally provided land for the relocation of traders affected by the road project and had also provided funding for the preparations of a befitting place for the traders.

Dr. Amoakohene, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for his enormous support to the government.

He emphasized that the government would continue to provide more infrastructural projects to the region.
