Ashanti Regional Minister inaugurate seven member Kejetia Market Board

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has inaugurated a seven-member board for the Kumasi City Market Limited, also known as Kejetia Market.

The board has been mandated to oversee the proper and prudent management of the facility.

The board will be chaired by the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Richard Ofori Boadi, with a representative from the Manhyia Palace, Apagyahenene Oheneba Owusu Afriyie, as vice chairperson.

Other members include the Chief Executive Officer for Bentronics Agro Chemicals, representing Kejetia Traders, Ntomahema, Nana Evelyn Serwaa Boadu, representing Central Market Traders, a representative from the Local Government Ministry, Osman Samaa, one from Finance Ministry, Anthony Gyazra, a representative from the GPRTU, with Lawyer Patrick Adu serving as secretary to the board.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene officially sworn in the board on Monday, February 16, 2026, and charged them to work towards ensuring the smooth running of the facility.

He cautioned them to be circumspect on how they manage information regarding the market, saying, “You are there to ensure the market functions well, work diligently for the traders to benefit.”

He pledged his office’s support for the board, urging them to call on him anytime the need arises.

The chairperson for the board, Hon. Richard Ofori Boadi, thanked the Ashanti Regional Minister for his support to the board and assured that the board will work within its mandate and ensure proper running of the facility.
