A popular musician at Manso and its enclaves, Akwasi Gyamfi also known as Sly Doe, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 30-year-old bar tender, Nana Yaw, at Mpatuam in the Amansie South District of Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on February 27, 2026, following a dispute over a rented space.
Ama Kraa, the deceased’s girlfriend, told OTEC News’ Kwame Agyenim Boateng that Nana Yaw was brutally attacked with a small axe after a misunderstanding with Gyamfi.
“We hire a space from the suspect’s family for drinking bar business , and for some time now, he’s been picking fights with us,” she said, adding that Gyamfi would often tamper with their electricity meter, leading to cluffles.
“He switched off the meter again, and when we confronted him, he went inside his house and came back with an axe and attacked the deceased, killing him in cold blood,” Ama Kraa narrated.
The suspect has been arrested by police at Nkawie and is assisting with investigations.
The incident has shocked the community, with many calling for justice for Nana Yaw.
