Newborn baby abandoned at Konromoase cemetery
Residents of Konkroamoase near Atasomanso in the Kumasi Metropolist of the Ashanti Region are in shock after discovery a newly born baby has been abondoned at a cemetery in the area.
The newborn baby boy was found abandoned at the cemetery on Monday April 6, 2026, sparking concern and outrage among residents.
Residents who rushed to the scene described the scene as heartbreaking.
“It was a small bundle wrapped in a cloth, and when we opened it, we saw the baby boy crying,” said one resident.
Atasomanso Electoral Area Assembly Member, Hon. Abdul Samid, popularly known as Opele, expressed sadness over the incident.
“It’s a very sad and unfortunate incident. As a leader, I’m deeply concerned about the welfare of our community, and this act is unacceptable.”
Hon. Opele confirmed that the case has been reported to the Kronkromase Police Station.
“We’ve reported the matter to the police, and they’re investigating. We urge anyone with information to come forward and help us find the mother.”
The baby is currently receiving care, and authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the mother.
As Hon. Opele puts it, “We need to understand what led to this act and ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
