Africa Education Watch to petition President Mahama over inadequate of Lecturers and infrastructures  at USTED

The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare, says he will petition President John Dramani Mahama and the Education Ministry over inadequate facilitators at the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, USTED, in Kumasi.

Speaking on day two of the maiden International Conference on Education and Humanities hosted by USTED on Thursday, Mr. Asare argued that the institution needs more lecturers, faculty members, and instructors to deliver quality training to students.

“USTED, which is the only tertiary institution training human resources for TVET institutions in the country, is highly under-resourced,” he stated.

“Lecturers at the facility are supervising a student population way bigger than them. We are calling for immediate intervention.”

He emphasized that Ghana must invest in both infrastructure and human resources if USTED is to fulfill its mandate.

According to him, the university has the capacity and potential to produce quality human resources for the TVET sector.

Mr. Asare urged government to pay more attention to USTED and other TVET institutions nationwide.

“USTED has the capacity and potential to training quality human resources for the country in the TVET sector. Government must pay more attention to USTED and other TVET institutions in the country,” he appealed.
