Atwima Kwanwoma: Asafohene’s ‘Akyeamfour Foundation’ cuts sod for construction of twenty unit classroom block

Akyeamfour Foundation, a not-for profit organisation, has cut the sod for construction of a Twenty-unit classroom block for the Ampabame D/A Junior High School at Ampabame in the Atwima Kwanwoma District  as part of its efforts to provide quality education infrastructure to deprived communities.

The school’s plight came to the Foundation’s attention when school management called on the Asafohene for support in renovating the existing 60-year old school block and to ease congestion

Asafohene , in light of this, took immediate measures to construct a new Twenty unit classroom block for Ampabame D/A where he ones schooled.

The school block, when completed, will accommodate not less than a thousand students with a staff common room, a store, an office, teachers’ quarters, a kitchen, and washrooms.

In attendance at the ceremony were: Asafohene, Akyeamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency,  Hon Amankwah Manu, the District Chief Executive of Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly; Prince Karikari, the Director of Education; Mrs. Doris Ofori, the headteacher of Ampabame D/A School Mrs Patricia Appau, and teachers of the school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Otumfuor Akwamuhene and also the chief of Asafo, Akyeamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, highlighted that Education is very important in today’s society, and every child deserves the same chance as any other child anywhere in this country.

That is why investing in education is one of the fundamental pillars in setting up the Akyeamfour Foundation.

According to Asafohene, he believe education is an empowerment tool and the best investment we can make in the lives of our children and the future of our country, hence this project.

He expressed no doubt that when the infrastructure project is completed, it will   contribute to shaping the lives and futures of the children in the area at large.

He then urged stakeholders, old students of Ampabame D/A school, and other public spirited- individuals to support his vision of competing the project within a shorter period

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency Hon Kofi Amankwah Manu applauded Akyeamfour, Citing that the benefits of this project to the pupils and the community when completed are immeasurable.

He thanked the Asafohene for the swift effort in construction of the school block and promised to support it until the project was completed

On the part of Mrs. Doris Ofori, the District Director of Education, said the provision of modern educational facilities is critical to enhance smooth academic work and also praised the Asafohene for the project. She further admonished all stakeholders in the community to offer any assistance the Foundation requires to complete the project as scheduled so as to improve learning and teaching in the community.

Also the Headteacher for Ampabame D/A JHS,  Mrs Patricia Appau, in her remarks, noted that education remains the best legacy a government can give its young people to enhance the social and economic development of the country. 

She thanked Asafohene for the quick response to the school’s plight, adding that the project when completed, will ease the conjunction they’ve been experiencing in the school for years.
