Claims of SSNIT collapsing untrue – Kofi Osafo Marfo

The Director General for Social Security and National Insurance Trust SSNIT Mr Kofi Osafo Marfo says claims of SSNIT collapsing are false

According to him SSNIT made a remarkable turnaround in its financial performance, achieving a surplus of GHS 230 million from 2021 to 2023.

This impressive feat he noted is attributed to effective investment management, increased contributions, and sound management practices.

According to him, as of August 2024, SSNIT has disbursed GHS 3.7 billion to 250,000 beneficiaries, demonstrating its strong financial health.

Speaking at the 2024 Edition of SSNIT’s engagement with Pensioners in the Ashanti Region on Thursday October 17, 2024,   Mr. Kofi Osarfo Marfo said SSNIT has successfully transitioned from a deficit position during the COVID-19 era to a surplus.

He added that, SSNIT’s financial growth is a testament to the Trust’s resilience and commitment to providing financial security to its members.

“The Trust’s management has implemented efficient strategies to optimize resources, leading to significant returns on investments”.

Nana Adarkwah Tuffour, Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Pensioners Association, has also dispelled rumors about SSNIT’s collapse, assuring that the Trust remains financially stable and continues to pay pensioners without delay.

He clarified that individuals facing challenges are those who invested in government shares, not SSNIT beneficiaries.

He noted that SSNIT’s financial milestone is a positive indication of its sustained strength and positioning for future growth.
