KATH observes World Tuberculosis Day 2025 with free TB and HIV screening

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is joining the global community in observing World Tuberculosis Day 2025 with a free Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV screening event for the public.
The initiative, which will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, to celebrate World Tuberculosis Day, aims to combat the persistent threat of TB in Ghana.
The Respiratory Medicine Unit of the Internal Medicine Directorate will provide free screening services at the hospital’s Poly Car Park from morning until midday.
This proactive measure aims to address the issue of late TB diagnosis, a significant contributing factor to the ongoing health challenge.
The Head of the Respiratory Medicine Unit and Lead Clinician of the Internal Medicine Directorate, Dr. Divine Amenuke, highlighted the importance of early detection. early.
In an interview with Otec News on Saturday, Dr. Divine Amenuke emphasized that both TB and HIV are highly treatable when diagnosed early.
“This free screening offers the public a vital opportunity to know their status and receive timely medical interventions if needed,” he stated.
This year’s World Tuberculosis Day is observed globally under the theme “YES! WE CAN END TB: COMMIT, INVEST, AND DELIVER.”
Dr. Amenuke urged the public to take advantage of the free screening, which aligns with national and global efforts to eradicate the TB menace.
He stressed the significance of early detection in combating the disease and improving treatment outcomes.
“The hospital hopes for a large turnout to make this World Tuberculosis Day a successful step towards a healthier Ghana, Dr. Amenuke said.
