Aboagye Contractor reaches 5,000 widows in Ashanti region

A Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Emmanuel Aboagye, has extended warm, heartfelt support to 5,000 widows in the Ashanti region.

The charitable initiative, now in its fifth year, according to him, is aimed at supporting widows and helping ease their burdens during the festive season.

The 5,000 widows received essential items like clothes, bags of rice, tins of sardine and mackerel, cooking oil, and tomato paste.

Speaking during the donation, Mr Aboagye said the initiative is a way of giving back to society and helping to ease the burden of vulnerable people, especially during the festive season.

The civil engineer stated that the effort began with just 500 beneficiaries in its first year and has since grown significantly, inspired by the biblical story of Jesus feeding 5,000.

During the special event held at the KNUST stadium in Kumasi on Friday, January 3, 2026, Mr Aboagye, also known as Aboagye Contractor, noted that “this is not a one-time event; it’s a lifelong commitment.”

He and his team extended the initiative to the Eastern Region this year, reaching another 1,000 widows at Akosombo.

With each passing year, Emmanuel Aboagye said he hopes “to expand the support base to reach even more people in need.”

Explaining the focus on widows, he shared a personal story: “I have a special affinity for widows because my mother raised me alone. I saw what she went through. That experience motivates me to stand with other women in similar situations.”

He encouraged individuals, businesses, and organizations to extend support to those in need, stressing that collective action is necessary to build a more compassionate society.

“Let’s all look around us. There’s someone who needs help. A small act of kindness can make a big difference,” he concluded.

The beneficiaries were happy as they took turns receiving the gifts from Mr Emmanuel Aboagye, who was elated when giving out the presents to the widows.

An 80-year-old woman, Jemima Ohenewaa, who hails from Ejisu, expressed her gratitude to Emmanuel Aboagye, seeking God’s blessings upon him after receiving her parcel.

“Mr Aboagye is indeed a godsend. Now I can cook rice with sardine stew for my grandchildren during this holiday for the first time. With the piece of cloth, I will immediately sew it today, wear it to church tomorrow (Sunday), and pray for Mr Aboagye for a good, long, healthy year,” a 62-year-old woman said.
