Police arrest five suspects over Nkaseim robbery

The Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects in connection with a robbery attack that occurred in December 2025 at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region.

According to the police, the incident took place on December 2, 2025, when the suspects, together with other accomplices armed with weapons, blocked the Goaso–Tepa road and simultaneously attacked the Nkaseim Police Station, the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank area at Nkaseim.

During the attack, the assailants reportedly made away with two AK47 rifles and stole unspecified amounts of cash from the bank, as well as GH¢14,000 from the cocoa buying company and GH¢12,000 from the gold buying company. An employee of the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company was also shot and injured during the incident.

The police in a Facebook post on Sunday, February 1, said sustained intelligence gathering and forensic investigations led to the arrest of 35-year-old Mutar Kofi, a commercial tricycle rider, on January 16, 2026, at a location known as “Ata ne Ata” near Nkaseim. He reportedly admitted his involvement in the robbery.

Further investigations resulted in the arrest of four additional suspects. They include 45-year-old Mahamadu Sagio, arrested at Nkaseim; 28-year-old Shaibu Issah Jallo, also known as Jibo, arrested at Chereponi; and 40-year-old Abdul Suleman, arrested at Tanga near Karaga in the Northern Region.

Another suspect, 25-year-old Bukari Sulley, also known as Tailor, a trader at Alaba in Kumasi, was arrested on January 25, 2026.

The police said efforts have been intensified to arrest three other suspects identified as Dauda, Mohammed Ali and Hoyeefi, who is believed to be the gang leader and in possession of the stolen weapons, along with other firearms used in the robbery.

The Ghana Police Service said it remains committed to ensuring the arrest of the remaining suspects to face the full rigours of the law.
