The committee set up by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to investigate allegations of inducement and vote buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary is expected to submit its report on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The NDC set up a three-member committee to investigate allegations that some aspirants engaged in bribery during the party’s parliamentary primary held on Saturday, February 7.
Among the claims is an allegation that one of the aspirants, Baba Jamal, distributed television sets, money, and other items to delegates in an attempt to influence their votes.
Although Mr Jamal eventually won the election, the outcome has sparked controversy, with the Majority in Parliament and some key members of the NDC calling for the results to be annulled.
However, constituency party executives have strongly opposed calls for the annulment.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, February 9, 2026, a member of the committee, Inusah Fuseini, said the team’s mandate is strictly fact-finding and that its work involves engaging all relevant stakeholders connected to the primaries.
“We are a fact-finding committee, so we must gather evidence. In doing that, we must speak to all persons who were connected to the Ayawaso East NDC primaries,” he said.
Mr Fuseini explained that the committee has held engagements with party officials who supervised the election, as well as candidates and party executives at both constituency and regional levels.
“So we are speaking with the party representatives who supervised the election, we are also speaking with the candidates, and some of the constituency executives and regional executives. We will make recommendations to the party,” he added.
The committee’s findings and recommendations are expected to guide the party’s next steps in addressing the allegations surrounding the primaries.
