Kumasi Wesley Girls students fund repairs to damaged dormitory block before graduation

The Management of Kumasi Wesley Girls’ High School in the Ashanti Region has hailed its students for repairing a dilapidated dormitory block to create more accommodation space.

The Students Representative Council, SRC, led the effort to roof and paint the structure ahead of the 2026 graduation.

According to the Headmistress, Mrs Lovia Amankwaa, the building was constructed by GETFund but was ripped off by a rainstorm.

She disclosed this during the graduation and thanksgiving service for the 2026 year group on Sunday, June 15, 2026.

The damage had prevented the school from hosting boarding students in that block.

“We had sent letters to authorities, but the students stepped forward and contributed willingly to support,” the Headmistress said.

She explained that the SRC bodies willingly footed the bill and ensured the dormitory block was fixed and made fit for purpose.

The school celebrated its annual thanksgiving and send-off ceremony to honor the 2026 graduating class.

The event brought together the school community to express gratitude to God for His guidance, blessings, and protection throughout the academic year.

It also provided spiritual direction for final-year students as they transition to the next phase of life.

The Headmistress commended government, parents, teachers, non-teaching staff, and other partners for ensuring students received the right training at the secondary level.

She said their support made the students’ success possible.

She urged the graduates to keep their heads high and work diligently as they pursue higher education.

“With perseverance and consistency, the students can achieve their aspirations,” she added. Management wished them all the best as they go out for their next challenge.
