President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as one of the hardest-working members of his government.
Speaking during his Resetting Ghana Tour of the Volta Region on Thursday, July 16, President Mahama credited the North Tongu MP for playing a key role in advancing Ghana’s interests on the international stage.
According to the President, Ablakwa undertook extensive diplomatic engagements that contributed to the adoption of the United Nations resolution on reparations, an initiative championed by Ghana.
Mahama said the Foreign Affairs Minister travelled extensively to rally support from member states, helping secure the backing of 123 countries for the resolution.
He commended the minister for his commitment and behind-the-scenes efforts, saying much of the recognition he has received internationally is due to Ablakwa’s work.
“Your Member of Parliament, our hardworking Minister of Foreign Affairs, indeed, I must tell you that he is among my hardest-working ministers. Every credit that I have attained on the international scene, it is he that has done the legwork.
“The UN Resolution on Reparations, it is he who did the traveling to convince all the 123 countries to vote for us,” President Mahama said.
