Suame Interchange Phase 2 to open by end of October 2026 – Agbodza

The three overpasses and internal roads under the second phase of the Suame Interchange project are expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of October 2026.
The second phase of the project is currently about 87 per cent complete.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, announced this during an inspection of the Suame Interchange and its ancillary works being executed by Rango Construction Company Limited.
He said the government had made savings on the project while expanding its capacity to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and improve the overall functionality of the interchange.
“We have seen significant improvements; now we have a date for the possible completion of Phase 2, which is the overpasses and the internal roads, which is by the end of October. Where we’re standing will be opened to traffic.
“Asanteman will drive on it for Christmas, and it will be left with phase 2, which is the Suame Interchange,” he said.
The Suame Interchange project in Kumasi comprises multiple overpasses and an underpass intended to ease congestion and improve traffic flow within the Suame area.
The second phase includes key overpasses at the Anomangye, Magazine New Road and Abusuakruwa junctions, with some sections of the project already nearing completion.
The project forms part of government’s broader efforts to improve road infrastructure and address persistent traffic congestion in the Kumasi metropolis.
Mr Agbodza said the Ministry would continue to monitor the project to ensure the contractor maintains the pace of work and meets the revised completion target.
