Businessman builds ultra-modern police station for Ahenema Kokoben community

President of the European Economic Chamber, (EEIG) Ghana, Professor Dr. Lukmond Owusu Ansah, has handed over a police station he solely financed and constructed to the Ashanti Regional Police Command at a grand ceremony held at Ahenema Kokoben in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti Region on Thursday January 25, 2018.

Handing over the edifice, Prof. Owusu Ansah expressed his worries over the spate of crimes perpetrated against the inhabitants in the area and its environs by some miscreants and he had to pay heed to the numerous appeals coming from some prominent citizens in the town which prompted him to construct the building.

The edifice, built at a cost of one hundred and ten Ghana cedis (GH110, 000) is the 151st police station in Ashanti Region, 14th in the Asokwa Divisional Police Command and the 7th in the Atwima Kwanwoma district and among the few police stations financed by an individual.

In his speech, Prof. Owusu Ansh stated that though he was not an indigene, neither did he reside in the town, he was saddened to hear criminals having a field day in a community, traditionally headed by the Queen Mother (Asantehemaa) of Ashanti  , Nana Konadu Yiadom ll, due to lack of police presence.

‘’As a good citizen I decided to act immediately after taking a cue from the sayings of one- time President of America John F Kennedy of what one could for his country hence my little contribution to the society for the people to live in peace’’, he said.

Professor Owusu Ansah called on the affluent in the society to also contribute their quota to build mother Ghana.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah, receiving the keys to the edifice, commended Prof. Owusu Ansah and urged others to emulate for the security of the people,

“The government alone cannot provide everything in the country, the citizens must play their part, especially for the chiefs to release lands to the police to put up police stations to check and curtail criminal activities,” he said.
