Communication on Veep’s health very poor – Ben Mornah

National Chairman for the People’s National Convention (P. N. C), Bernard Mornah has said that communiqué issued by the Office of the President, on the health of Vice President Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia was very poor and disgusting, which must not be repeated never again in the history of Ghana.

According to the PNC chair, the presidency communication should have made Ghanaians know the extent and type of illness the second gentleman was battling.

Dr. Bawumia left Ghana to the United Kingdom (UK) Friday January 19 for advanced medical attention after reporting of ill health and was accompanied by the second lady Hajia Samira Bawumia.

A statement signed by the Chief Of Staff, Frema Opare Saturday January 20, said he was flown to the UK on the advice of his doctors.

The Presidency had earlier on that Friday announced that the Vice President, on the day reported not feeling well and was attended to by his doctors and was in stable condition.

There was mixed reactions on social media about the decision to go public that the Vice President had taken ill, whereas others think the announcement was right, others are of the view that it was needless.

Speaking in an interview with Otec News on Wednesday January 31, 2018, Mr. Mornah expressed his disappointment on why the presidency decided to announce the illness without details and wondered why the presidency decided to cause fear and panic in the country with the announcement.

Mr. Mornah believes there should have been details of the illness of Dr. Bawumia to Ghanaians else was useless to announce the illness to the public.

“What was the essence of the Office of President telling us the Ghanaians that the Vice was sick, without telling us the exact cause or illness. In fact I will describe the announcement as ‘needless’ and sign of disrespect for Ghanaians and this shouldn’t be repeated,” he added.
