I don’t regret campaigning for the NDC – Asare Bediako
Ghanaian movie director, Kwadwo Asare Bediako has said that he has no regrets endorsing and campaigning for the NDC and president John Mahama.
Asare Bediako has been a staunch supporter of the NDC for many years but decided to join the party’s campaign this year. ” I have always believed in the ideologies of the NDC” he said.
A few days after the electoral commission declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo winner of the 2016 elections, most celebrities who joined the NDC have complained about attacks and threats on their lives by some supporters of the New Patriotic Party.
Speaking to OneCharles on Otec FM’s Anokyekrom, Asare Bediako who claims to be a victim of such attacks and threats, revealed that he now moves around with protection from a national security operative because people have been creeping up on him with the intention to hurt him.
According to him, his colleagues in the movie industry have also insulted, threatened and vilified him to the extent that most producers have steered clear of his services as a movie director.
” I even had to block some people including some of my colleague movie directors for calling me names just because I supported President Mahama and the NDC ” he added.
Asare Bediako bemoaned the spate of abuse targeted at celebrities who endorsed the NDC and appealed to Ghanaians and his colleagues to desist from treating political opponents as enemies.
