Afigya Kwabre North: DCE set to complete abandoned projects

The District Chief Executive (DEC) of Afigya Kwabre North district of the Ashanti region Hon. Karikari Acheamfour has bemoaned over lack of funds which is impeding the developmental projects designed by the Assembly to improve the lives of the people.
He said as a newly created district, the assembly cannot rely on their common fund and Internal Generated Funds (IGF), which he described as inadequate, to execute projects like roads, toilet facilities, school buildings, bore-holes, among others, including those abandoned by the previous government.
Hon. Karikari Acheamfour on assumption of office in 2018 noted that roads in the district were in deplorable state, particularly, the main Ahenkro-Boamang road, that links all the communities in the district, and the need to have it reconstructed.
Speaking to Otec News’ Agya Sam after touring the district, he said major infrastructures need to be put up as a matter of urgency to address the challenges facing the district and has recommended for the establishment of advisory committee to raise funds.
“The Assembly, as an infant, needs funds to execute the projects, especially, the provision of school tables and chairs. The common funds provided by the government are woefully inadequate, not to mention the IGF. In view this, a District Advisory Committee, comprising Nkwantakesehene, Nana Boakye Yam, Hon. Kan Dapaah, National Security Minister and Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo of Graphic Group of Communications, will soon be set up to raise funds to execute the projects,” he said.
The Afigya Kwabre North District Engineer, Gabriel Agyemang, reiterated the commitment of the Assembly to complete all abandoned projects and execute new ones.
He also revealed the availability of lands by the Assembly, and it is prepared to offer them for potential investors and called on industries to seize the opportunity to establish industries in the district.
