Let’s embrace herbal medicine – Asantehemaa advises

Queen mother of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, is appealing to the Ministry of Health to encourage the usage of medicines in treating ailments as it is what Africans were born with.

The Royal Queen noted that the attention given to the local medicine is not encouraging, as compared to the orthodox medicine, making it less attractive for patronize.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III made this statement on Sunday August 18, 2019, when she was commissioning a newly ultramodern herbal clinic built by Grace Gift Herbal at Ohwim in the Bantama Sub Metro of the Ashanti region.

“As a Qeenmother, I think it is not out of place to encourage my fellow Ghanaians to use and even tell others to go into the use of traditional medicines to treat their infirmities,” she said.

In her opinion, the efficacy of traditional medicines is better than orthodox medicines, however, because orthodox medicines are promoted in the media, there is the perception that orthodox medicines are better.

She is, therefore, urging the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), the Mampong Center for Research into Plant Medicine, the Traditional Medicine Council, and the public to involved in the promotion of traditional for the needed attention and projection.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III emphasized that Ghanaians and Africans have since creation used herbal and that has been the secret of long life. She however charged on the Association of Herbal medicine practitioners to stick to the necessary requirements and procedure of producing quality medicine for health care.

Addressing the durbar, the CEO of the Grace Gift herbal Clinic, Dr. Grace Boadu, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Asantehemaa and the leadership of Ashanti region for their support since Grace Gift herbal began operation.

According to her, Grace Gift herbal Clinic since it’s establishment 11 years ago has been able to provide quality herbal services and has become one of the best in providing herbal treatment.

She stated that her outfit is ready to make Ghanaians understand and believe in herbal medication to boost the economy.

Mayor of KMA, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, congratulated Dr. Grace Boadu and her team for their performance in the Herbal medicine industry and urged them to do more and make the industry attractive.

He however pledged the support of KMA and the government to assist Grace Gift herbal Clinic and other recognized herbal practitioners.
