A/R: Fire fighters attacked at Kotwi as Gary Malvern hospital gutted
A fire crew from the Okonfo Anokye fire Station have been attacked by some youth at Kotwi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti after responding to a call about a hospital in flames.
The crew numbering about seven according to reports were welcomed with stones by the youth upon arriving at the Fire scene leading to one being hospitalized.
ADO 2 B. Taylor who lead the crew in an interview with OTEC News Kwame Agyenim Boateng confirm that incident happened on Thursday September 9,2021.
“We had a call that the Gary Malvern Hispital at Kotwi was on fire in the early hours of Thursday and responded with alacrity only for some youth to greet us with stones”
ADO 2 Taymor noted that although the lives of the fire crew deployed to the scene were in danger they still managed to douse out the fire.
He described the situation as worrying and called on the Public to team with them and save lives and properties in situations like that.
Touching on the fire, ADO 2 B Taylor said noted that hospital equipments and other properties amounting to hundreds of cedis were destroyed in the inferno with destroyed the last floor of the two story building hospital.
He added that no casualties were recorded in the process.
The Chief Executive for Atwima Kwanwoma District Nana Okyere Tawia Antwi who visited the scene described it as unfortunate.
He consoled owners of the hospital and assured them of government’s support to bring the facility back to life again.
