Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Bantama, Hon Francis Asenso-Boakye has handed over a cheque of GhC 100,000 to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Professor Dr Dr Otchere Addai-Mensah.
This is in fulfilment of an earlier pledge he made during the grand launch of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, an initiative to renovate the blocks and wards at the premier health facility.
Speaking during a brief presentation ceremony at the conference hall of KATH management, Hon Asenso-Boakye said he was happy to be able to fulfill the pledge he made.
“KATH was where i was born and growing up i had been here several times but it was shocking to see the kind of deterioration the hospital has seen over the years, and so it was gratifying to see the King take the lead in calling for its renovation and i am so glad that he has a hard working CEO to support in the work to be done here”, Hon Asenso-Boakye noted.
Commitment:
The Roads Minister stated that he was committed to helping out any other way possible so as to ensure the renovation works are complete.
He said the CEO of the facility, Prof Addai-Mensah since becoming head of KATH has shown to the world that the Hospital was working.
He therefore urged the management and staff to offer every support the CEO would need so that collectively they could transform the hospital to a level where its environment alone would commence healing on patients and visitors who came around.
“I personally recommended for the appointment of my brother Prof Addai-Mensah and by his work the world has seen that it was a good decision because in this world everything is about leadership and in him i am not surprised KATH is working again”, the Roads Minister posited.
Appreciation:
Receiving the cheque in the company of his management members, Prof Addai-Mensah thanked the Roads Minister and MP for the gesture.
He also commended Hon Boakye for showing particular interest in the affairs of KATH.
The donation of the money the CEO stated only showed the commitment of the Minister to see to the renovation works are completed on time.
“I am particularly grateful to you for this opportunity you offered by recommending me to the President for appointment and i pledge to work to make you proud and on behalf of KATH and its management we thank you for this donation”, the CEO stated.
