NIA to register school children from age five to 15 this year, says Bawumia

The National Identification Authority (NIA) will soon embark on an exercise to register all school children between the ages of five to 15 across the country, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has said.

The move is part of the government’s effort to compile a complete database of Ghanaians across the country.

Bawumia announced the initiative at the official launch of the “Ghana Card number at birth” initiative on Thursday, (14 March) at the Ga North Hospital at Ofankor in Accra.

“Very soon an announcement will be made for the launch of the registration of all our school children from ages of five to 15.”

“When that is done, Ghana will have a very complete database, everybody will be registered on the NIA database,” Bawumia said.
