Seize opportunities, avoid excuses – Kwame Adinkra as he inspires OTEC Journalism school Students
Renowned journalist and legendary morning show host at Pure FM, Kwame Adinkra, has encouraged aspiring journalists to seize every opportunity that comes their way.
The Veteran Journalist charged aspiring journalists to be proactive and seize opportunities, emphasizing that excuses can hinder their growth and success in the competitive media landscape.
Addressing the students of the OTEC School of Journalism and Communication Studies, on Tuesday March 4, 2025, during 2025/2026 SRC Week celebration at the school’s premises in Kumasi, Mr Adinkra emphasized that success in journalism is largely dependent on taking advantage of opportunities without hesitation.
“Seize opportunities, avoid excuses as is one of the ways to work your way up in the media fraternity “, he said.
‘’Excuses have no place in the field of journalism. He advised students that whenever they are given an opportunity, they must embrace it wholeheartedly and put in their best effort’’ he added.
According to him, avoiding excuses is crucial for growth and professional success.
Mistakes in journalism
Mr Adinkra also reassured students that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process.
Instead of fearing failure, he urged them to learn from their errors and continuously improve. he said, Mistakes are bound to happen, but they should not hold you back.
The event was part of efforts to prepare journalism students for the realities of the media industry. His speech left many students inspired, reinforcing the importance of resilience, confidence, and a proactive approach in their careers.
