A/R: Asuonwunu Chief Sets Up GHC1.3m Fund to Build Community SHS

The Chief of Asuonwunu in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Akyina  Kwagyan V, has set up a fund with GHC1.3 million to build a community Senior High School in the area. Nana Akyina Kwagyan pledged in 2024 to liaise with the community and other stakeholders to construct a new SHS for the training of youth.

 A year later, the renowned chief set up a foundation for the project in the name of Asuonwunu Community Development Fund, where all donations and support will be channeled to complete the project.

Nana Akyina Kwagyan provided a seed money of GHC500,000 for the commencement of the project.

The Chief, together with the Asuonwunu community, inaugurated a five-member steering committee to oversee the project on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

The committee is chaired by a former Director of the Ghana School Feeding Project, Mr. Kwame Owusu Nuako.

During the inauguration, three renowned miners at Asuonwunu, Mr. Eric Frimpong (popularly known as Alhaji), Akwasi Agyenim, and Andrew Isaac Appiah, donated GHC100,000 each to support the project.

 They also pledged to offer 15,000 cement blocks for the start of the school.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nuako, together with other committee members, donated GHC300,000 to the fund.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kwame Owusu Nuako said the Chief of Asuonwunu had already released 25 hectares of land for the project.

 He added that a sod-cutting ceremony will soon be held for the official start of the project.

Nana Achina Kwagyan, in his remarks, commended all partners and donors for their support.

 He pledged his unwavering commitment to ensuring the project becomes a reality.

 He called on all, including natives of Asuonwunu, government, and corporate organizations, to come to their aid for the swift completion of the SHS project
