Hon. Ben Abdellah wants President to justify pardon for 998 prisoners

Former Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Hon. Ben Abdellah, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to provide reasons for granting pardons to 998 prisoners.

According to him, the Constitution that grants the President such powers also demands probity and accountability in such sensitive matters.
Hon. Abdellah emphasized that each of the pardoned prisoners should be profiled for the public to know their backgrounds.
He believes that transparency in such matters will enable the public, especially those who had issues with the convicts, to make informed decisions.
The former MP made this call in an interview with Dr. Cash on the Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show, Dwabrem, on Tuesday.
He stressed the importance of accountability and transparency in the President’s decision-making process regarding pardons.
