Atwima Mponua District: Ataso community feels cut off due to poor mobile network coverage

Residents of Ataso, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, are feeling cut off from the world due to the lack of mobile network coverage in the area.

The poor mobile network coverage has significantly impacted their daily economic and social activities.

In an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng, some residents disclosed that they have to trek long distances, miles away from their community, to get network signal for phone calls.

“We feel alone, neglected because with all these technological advancements, we find it very difficult to connect to our loved ones and business partners on phone,” noted Mr. Obeng, a resident.

Another resident cried out, “Just yesterday, I had to walk about one hour away from the community chasing a signal on my phone.

The stress of trekking for network is having a toll on us.”

The residents are calling on telecommunications companies in Ghana to expand network coverage to the area.

They are also appealing to the government to come to their aid, noting that their lives will improve significantly if they get mobile network coverage.

The residents believe that improved network coverage will enhance their economic and social activities, allowing them to communicate effectively with loved ones and business partners.
