Dunkwa-Akyempim: Father sets wife and six children ablaze before committing suicide in midnight tragedy

A horrific incident has rocked the Dunkwa-Akyempim community in the Central Region, where a man is alleged to have burned his wife and six children to death before committing suicide.
According to information received by OTEC NEWS after our reporter spoke to some residents, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
OTEC News reporter Obidombie Owusu Adiome revealed that wife Ama Dapaah, 30, decided to leave the husband Yaw Afriyie, 40, on the grounds that her husband was impotent
This, according to the report, sparked the misunderstanding between the deceased couple that resulted in the unfortunate tragedy
Witnesses believe the man doused the room with petrol, locked the family inside, and set it on fire.
The suspect was later found dead, having hanged himself in a nearby bush after the act.
In 2023, Yaw Ampofo used a wooden pistol to beat his wife and children. The police detained him, but the woman later pleaded with them to let her husband free, according to the OTEC NEWS reporter. Despite this, the police cautioned the wife that her husband may harm her in the future.
The shocking incident has left the community in mourning, and local police have initiated investigations into the heartbreaking incident.
