Four killed, 19 injured in Buipe-Tamale road crash

A road traffic accident on the Buipe-Tamale road has claimed the lives of four people, including two females and two males.
The tragic accident which occurred on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 saw 19 others sustaining injuries.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly to the crash involving a Sprinter Benz bus (AS 9332-17) traveling from Buipe to Kumasi and a hit-and-run trailer truck at Sawaba No. 2.
According to the GNFS, the 19 surviving passengers were rescued and taken to the Buipe Government Hospital prior to the arrival of the fire crew.
The crew extricated three trapped victims from the Sprinter minibus, but three people died at the scene, and a fourth person succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
The deceased have been handed over to the police for further investigation, and preliminary investigations indicate the trailer caused the crash before fleeing the scene.
The Sprinter Benz sustained serious damage in the accident.
The swift response of the Buipe Fire Station crew, led by STNO II Abubakar M. Sheriff, prevented further casualties and ensured timely medical care for survivors.
