Former presidential aide Dennis Miracles Aboagye has vowed to continue his bid to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Communications Director after his release from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Aboagye, who was released on Tuesday (14 July) said his detention had strengthened his resolve and insisted that allegations surrounding his arrest would not deter him from pursuing his political ambitions.
“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever,” Aboagye wrote in a Facebook post following his release.
The NPP communicator said he was detained four days after declaring his intention to contest the party’s National Communications Director position and accused unnamed persons of creating a false narrative about the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
“Let the records show: there was no discussion of any GHC55 million with me by EOCO. None,” he stated.
Aboagye thanked NPP supporters who protested and voiced their concerns following his arrest, saying their actions demonstrated support for the principle of free expression within the party.
“From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he said.
He vowed to continue his campaign to lead the NPP’s Communications Directorate, saying attempts to intimidate him had failed.
“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he added.
Aboagye also expressed appreciation to his legal team, party leadership and supporters, describing his political journey as a collective effort.
His release follows his arrest and detention by EOCO, although details of the investigation and the specific allegations against him have not been publicly disclosed by the agency.
Aboagye is among several contenders seeking to lead the NPP’s communications wing as the party prepares for its internal elections.
