Kwabre Kenyasi chief commissions approximately GH¢3m ultramodern market
The Chief of Kwabre Kenyasi, Barimah Fredua Agyeman, has commissioned an ultramodern market facility valued approximately GH¢3 million to provide traders with a safer and more conducive environment to conduct their businesses.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, August 13, 2026, Barimah Fredua Agyeman revealed that GH¢6,500 of the project cost was realised from the recently held homecoming programme, while he personally financed the remaining amount.
He said the project was undertaken as part of efforts to address the growing problem of traders, particularly market women, operating along unsafe roadsides.
Barimah Fredua Agyeman stated that all market women currently trading on the streets would be relocated to the new facility to enable them to operate in a safer and more secure environment.
The project comes with modern facilities including lockable shops, stalls, and washrooms among others.
The Chief pledged his continuous support for the development of the community.
He however appealed to the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly to create a new bus terminal for the market.
According to him, this will help remove drivers from indiscriminate loading and offloading on the street.
For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabre East, Hon. Joseph Amankwah, hailed the chief for the initiative.
He noted the Assembly will provide the necessary support to ensure the smooth running of the market.
Hon. Amankwah called on the community to use the market for all trading activities in order to make the place attractive enough to draw others.
