Coach of AshantiGold, C.K. Akunnor has stated that dubious decisions by Ghanaian referees is the bane of Ghana football.
According to him, some referees cheat for teams in the Ghanaian league to win matches, thinking that they are doing them a favor but oblivious of the fact that they are hampering the flow of the game and quality of play.
”Now you go into a game and a team which is supposed to defend well does not see the essence in doing so because a referee will definitely award a dubious decision in their favor….it doesn’t improve the quality of the game in both home and away matches”, he noted.
He told Osei Akoto Kanu on Otec royal sports that the referees are not only cheating football teams but are destroying football in Ghana, adding that, they are also destroying the game of the teams they cheat in favor of.
”Ghana soccer is heading the wrong direction, now they don’t give the kids the chance to play football… there are fans who also pay to see quality games but do not get value for their money and for me they are destroying Ghana football”, the former Black Stars skipper concluded.
