Mountain High College and International School win NUGS quiz competition for basic school students

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has organized a quiz competition for basic school students in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region aimed at improving the general knowledge of the pupils in the country.

The maiden competition which was organized under the auspices of the NUGS Secretary for Education, Master Asare Bediako, reached its climax at the Agona SDA JHS auditorium on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

After series of zonal competitions Mountain High College and International School emerged as the undisputed victor.

Mountain High College and International School beat four other zonal champions for the coveted trophy and other prizes.

Mountain High School Old Students Association (MOHISOSA) after the grand finale commended all the participating schools and pupils for taking part in the competition

MOHISOSA noted that, the winners, Mountain High College and International School, showcased their exceptional knowledge and teamwork, amassing the highest score in the competition.

“Their triumph earned them a prestigious trophy, laptops, a brand-new desktop computer, cash prizes, and certificates”.

MOHISOSA pledged NUGs commitment to holding such competitions across the country to encourage reading among students

Support to Participating Students

The Oyokohene Nana Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah donated sums of money to each participating institution to support and motivate them to prioritize academic growth and excellence.

He praised NUGS for the innovative, urging them to be consistent with the competition to help improve reading among students

He pledged his commitment to support NUGS anytime they call on him for support

The NUGS Basic School Quiz aims to foster academic excellence, cultivate a passion for learning, and provide a platform for students to demonstrate their intellectual abilities.

The organizers, led by the Secretary for Education, Master Asare Bediako, expressed their gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the maiden edition and look forward to an even more captivating competition in the years to come.
