Amansie West District: Asuonwunu Chief organizes free health screening for over 20,000 residents
The Chief of Asuonwunu in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V has organized free health screening for about 20,000 residents at Asuonwunu and sorrounding communities.
The beneficiaries of the screening including the aged and the youth, were screened for diabetes, hypertension, eye conditions, sugar level, blood pressure and other health related conditions.
The three day health screening begun on Monday June 3, 2024 and ended on Wednesday June 5, 2024 at the Asuonwunu Health Center.
Those diagnosed with health conditions were given to the necessary medical attention while others were referred to specialists depending on their individual conditions
Aims of the Screening
The renowned chief in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Nancy Boamaa said the Health Screening formed part of activities to mark the 15th anniversary of his enstoolment
He added that, the exercise also aims at complimenting the effort of the Ghana health services to address the fundamental challenges regarding citizen’s access to quality healthcare services in Ghana.
“Bringing Public Health Care Screening to the doorsteps of citizens in selected rural areas across the country particularly in the Asuonwunu Community and its neighboring communities in the Amansie West District has always been my aspirations”, he said.

The health screening exercises was done in collaboration with Dada Foundation, a renowned Non-profit organization a wing of the Wisconsin University and the Ghana West African Health Medical Mission
Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V expressed his gratitude to all the partners for making the program a successful one.
Remarks from West Africa Health Medical Mission
For his part, the Head of Ghana West Africa health Medical Mission, Kyle Wadsworth said the aim of the organization was to seek to the general wellbeing of the vulnerable in rural areas
He noted that, the Mission seeks to provide opportunity for people to get access not only to quality health care but clean portable water as well.
