National Teaching Council Hosts Symposium Ahead of 2024 National Teacher’s Prize
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has organized a two-day Symposium ahead of the 2024 National Teacher’s Prize
Dubbed the Ghana Teacher Prize Symposium, under the theme “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.” The event brought together major stakeholders in the education sector in the Ashanti Region.
The 2024 National Teacher’s Prize is scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2024, in the Ashanti Region.
Awards will be presented in four categories including
Teachers, Teachers in Administration
Non-Teaching Staff and College of Education Tutors
The event honors outstanding educators in Ghana.
Addressing the opening session today, October 3, 2024, Dr. Addae Mensah, Registrar at the NTC, emphasized the importance of examining Teacher Professional Regimes to ensure due recognition.
He commended stakeholders, particularly teachers, and assured them of the NTC’s continued collaboration for better regulatory systems.
He noted that the symposium aims to promote teacher recognition, empowerment, and collaboration.
“By valuing teachers’ voices, Ghana can work towards a new social contract for education, ultimately transforming the country” .
Representing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Apegyahene Nana Owusu Afriyie IV, urged authorities to engage teachers in policy design, as they will lead implementation .
“Teachers’ voices must empower and shape society, as they have firsthand experience with issues that can transform the country,” he stressed.
The 2024 National Teacher’s Prize will honor outstanding educators, recognizing their dedication and impact on Ghana’s education sector.
The NTC’s efforts demonstrate a commitment to teacher welfare and development, ensuring quality education for future generations.
