Samed Akalilu Appointed Ashanti Regional Head of Ghana Free Zones Authority

Samed Akalilu, newly appointed Ashanti Regional Head of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA)
Mr Samed Akalilu, a former Ashanti Regional Communications Officer and Member of the 2016 John Mahama Campaign Team, has been appointed head of the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA).

Until this appointment which takes effect from 1st October, 2025, Mr Akalilu served as the marketing and promotions officer at the headquarters of the GFZA from March this year.
A Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies holder from the Christian Service University (CSU) as well as a masters degree holder in Communication and Politics from the University of Legon, Mr Akalilu comes into his new role with about two decades of experience in many fields of endeavour including research work and as a recycling supervisor at Smart Solutions Limited-Leicester, United Kingdom .
A former intern at the Daily Graphic newsroom as well as a news reporter at Multimedia Ghana Limited and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the new regional head is a man of the people having been an assembly man at the Ahwiaa Zongo Electoral Area, Kwabre East previously.
Reaction:
Speaking to this reporter over the weekend, the former face of the NDC Communications in Ashanti expressed happiness for the honour done him.
With humility, Mr Akalilu thanked the President for the appointment.
He also thanked his immediate boss, Dr Mary Awusi who nominated him for the appointment.
“I am glad and humbled for the assignment to Head the Ashanti Regional Branch of the Ghana Free Zones Authority. I do not take the confidence reposed in me by CEO, Dr Mary Awusi lightly”, the Regional Director stated.
Commitment:
Mr Akalilu pleded his commitment to work to justify the confidence reposed in him to undertake reforms at the Ashanti Regional office of the GFZA.
He also promised to use the opportunity to connect governance to industry players as well as to the people especially those in Ashanti Region.
“I am inordinately grateful for the opportunity to serve and reconnect with the great people in the beautiful region”, Mr Akalilu posited.
