Asabeee makes a distinguished appearance at Akwasidae to greet the Asantehene

Former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, made a distinguished entry into the Manhyia Palace on Sunday, sporting a relaxed smile and draped in an exquisite red Kente cloth, to pay his respects to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Later, seated beside a Brazilian lawyer and philanthropist, who was notably seen mimicking the legendary Superman , Mr. Boateng—popularly known as Asabeee—cordially acknowledged numerous greetings while awaiting the Asantehene’s arrival.

Having arrived early at the Manhyia Palace, accompanied by a staff member from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Mr. Boateng was greeted by reverberating chants of his name from within the palace grounds.

The Asantehene’s Grand Entry

The Asantehene made his grand entrance into the Palace grounds around 2:30 PM.

Clad in a magnificent cloth, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sat in state to receive the dignitaries and government officials who had come to pay homage.

Following immediately after the representatives of the Ashanti Regional Security Council, Honourable Asamoah Boateng was beckoned by the Otumfuo’s Chief Linguist to greet the King .

Paying Homage and Reflection:

In paying his respects to the King, Hon. Asabeee explained that he had missed some previous Akwasidae celebrations, as well as the funeral of the late Asante Queen, due to recent travels to South Africa .

He expressed his gratitude to the Asantehene for granting him the opportunity to visit and properly render his respects.

The aspiring NPP National Chairman shared with the King that, following the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 election, he had needed time for deep reflection.

This period was dedicated to determining how he could best contribute to the rebuilding and restructuring of the party, with the goal of making it more appealing to the Ghanaian electorate by 2028.

“Otumfuo, after our poor performance at the polls in 2024, I had to take a break from public life and reflect thoroughly on all issues, including how I could contribute to the restructuring of our party,” Asabeee stated. “This is so we can soon return to government and deliver better policies to the Ghanaian people.”
